Free Train Ride for Kids This Month

Kids ride free on the Delaware & Ulster Railroad in Arkville on Sundays in October when accompanied by a paying adult if they bring two cans of food for the community pantry.

October is among the most popular times for passengers to enjoy the stunning autumn foliage along the route of the Delaware & Ulster Railroad as it winds at a leisurely pace from the Arkville depot to Roxbury and back again.

D&U Director Wes Coates said the fall promotion provides the opportunity for a pleasant family outing while providing support for the Arkville-based Community Pantry that offers essential assistance to more than 500 area residents.

The Delaware & Ulster Railroad scenic train ride is located at 43510 State Highway 28, Arkville. For more information, call 800- 225-4132, 845-586-2929, visit: durr.org or email: director@durr.org.

The Catskill Revitalization Committee, operator of the D&U, also oversees the Catskill Scenic Trail, a 26-mile hiking/biking trail running from Roxbury to Bloomville on the former rail bed. Visit catskillscenictrail.org for a map and additional information.
