Fire Breaks Out at Oorah’s BoyZone Camp in Jefferson

JEFFERSON - A structure fire was toned out at approximately 12:56 p.m. to Oohrah’s BoyZone Camp in Jefferson on Route 10 (formerly known as Scotch Valley Ski Resort). 

The location is operated by Oorah, Inc., a Jewish organization that also runs a summer camp for girls in Gilboa.

There were no injuries according to Stamford Fire Department First Assistant Chief Donnie VanEtten, who added that the camp is currently hosting children. 

A structure, approximately 150 by 40, was a complete loss.

The fire departments of Jefferson, Hobart, Grand Gorge, Davenport, Summit, Bloomville, East Meredith, Worcester and Schoharie County Fast Teams, Schoharie and Delaware Fire  Coordinator Offices, NYS OFPC, NYSEG and NYS DEC attended the scene.  The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
