Seward met at his Capitol office with students from Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapters throughout his district Feb. 6, including Delaware Academy.

“Agriculture is our state’s number one industry and in order to preserve and advance this time honored tradition, we need programs like the FFA,” said Senator Seward. “The students not only learn about traditional farming, but engineering, science and business as well. Their personal stories demonstrate the need for ongoing state support that will bolster this valuable education program.”

Delaware Academy representatives joined other FFA chapters from across New York in Albany to take part in the group’s annual lobby day.

Senator Seward is a longstanding member of the Senate Agriculture Committee and has consistently advocated in favor of programs to assist the next generation of farmers. Last year he and his senate colleagues were successful in adding $300,000 to the state budget (for a total of $842,000) to expand FFA and help prepare young New Yorkers to become leaders in agriculture.
