Duane G. Hime

Duane G. “Moon” Hime, 63, of Walton, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, at home in Walton following a long illness.

Moon was born on Dec. 13, 1954, in Walton, the son of the late Gary and the late Melba (Granger) Hime. He was a graduate of Walton Central School. He was employed for many years at DOMO, Fraser, retiring four years ago.

Moon was a former active and later honorary member of the Walton Fire Department and EMS, Sons of the American Legion, Walton and Christ Episcopal Church. He a former historian and treasurer of the Delaware County Firefighters Association. He ran the lights at the Walton Theatre for Music on the Delaware and the Delaware River Stage Company. He also was a great fan of the Buffalo Bills. Moon will be remembered as a kind and gentle man who was able to fix most mechanical things and was diligent and precise on drawing plans.

Moon is survived by his sister, Kathleen Hessenger and Roger Kinch, Walton; sister-inlaw Deborah Hime, Idaho, and nephew, Ethan Hime; an aunt, Linda DeBus, Fla., and Darleen and Rich Johnson, Fla.; a cousin, Jennifer Miller, and many friends.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Andrew and Michael Hime.

Friends and relatives were invited to call on Saturday, Jan. 6, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton, where services will be held at 1 with the Rev. Bert More, officiating. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family, at Walton Cemetery.
