Bulldog Grid Squad Bites Bobcats To Improve Record to 3-0

Benjamin Patton/THE REPORTER BAINBRIDGE — When the Delaware Academy football team came for a visit to Bainbridge- Guilford on Friday, the game was close all the way, and all of the scoring came in the first half. Both teams had second half chances, but the two defenses prevailed, and the visiting Bulldogs recorded a 21-17 victory.

DA quarterback Ben Branigan ran nine yards for a touchdown with 11:36 showing on the clock, and after being almost stopped by a bad snap, he broke through for the two-point conversion. The Bobcats’ Austin

Carr responded with an 18-yard touchdown run with 8:58 left, and the conversion attempt failed, so the Bulldogs had an 8-6 lead.

With 2:39 remaining in the quarter, the visitors Erik Gullow scored from three yards out, and Austin Hitchcock kicked the point after, to build the lead to 15-6, The second quarter clock showed 9:20 when Carr threw a 17-yard touchdown to Zach Ouimet. Bailey Hotaling then ran for the two points, trimming the deficit to a point.

Benjamin Patton/THE REPORTER At the 2:08 mark, Ouimet kicked a 40-yard field goal, and the Bobcats had a 17-15 edge. The half had 43 seconds to go when Branigan found Christian Aloisio with a 30- yard passing touchdown, for what proved to be the gamewinner.

The Bulldogs had a 234-209 edge in yardage in the game, and both teams split their rushing and passing numbers close to even, and both had eight first downs in the game. Branigan completed even passes for 133 yards, and Carr completed nine passes for 95 yards. Gullow ran for 53 yards and Branigan for 51 for DA, while Carr’s 58 yards let the B-G rushing department.


HEADED FOR SIX — Delhi quarterback Ben Branigan called his own number on this play and was able to get into the end zone despite the effort of Bainbridge-Guilford’s Bailey Hotaling, during Friday’s game. Branigan also threw a touchdown pass to Christian Aloisio in the second quarter, and the Bulldogs outlasted the Bobcats, 21-17.

It is on their field, and Coach Hoover will have his guys ready. You can’t predict Delhi- Walton game.”
